Readers, as part of our 2021 Christmas Gift Lists, we’re featuring favorite Christian publishers and booksellers. Amazon is a great option for many things, but shopping directly from Christian booksellers and publishers is a great way to support fellow Christians in an industry increasingly hostile to Christians. More of your dollars stay in their pockets, and you are showing that these businesses are important and needed! Shopping directly from the source may involve extra shipping costs, but most of the companies we’re featuring offer very competitive pricing (and, often, better sales and discounts).
Note: some of our Christmas Gift List posts contain affiliate links. Read our full disclosure.
What Is Rabbit Room?
Music. Story. Art. Community.
The Rabbit Room cultivates and curates stories, music, and art to nourish Christ-centered communities for the life of the world.
The above is directly from the Rabbit Room website, but we’ve been following—and promoting—their work for a long time. We love their vision and their eagerness to promote and shepherd new Christian authors and artists and musicians.
Why Shop at Rabbit Room?
Rabbit Room carries a number of excellent works by favorite classic authors such as J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, George MacDonald, Madeleine L’Engle, and others; their real strength, though, is the quantity of works by NEW Christian authors. They also carry modern children’s classics such as the Penderwicks, Holes, and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. On a budget: check out their scratched and dented section!
Some especial favorites (notes in parentheses include links to our reviews):
- Works by Andrew Peterson and all things Wingfeather! (Read our reviews of the Wingfeather books and Adorning the Dark)
- Works by Jonathan Rogers (We’re fans of both The Charlatan’s Boy and The Wilderking Books for kids)
- Works by John Hendrix (Miracle Man, Go and Do Likewise, and The Faithful Spy are all outstanding and would make terrific gifts)
- Works by N. D. Wilson (For ages 10+, we love the 100 Cupboards series and the Ashtown books as well)
- Works by S. D. Smith (The Green Ember books!)
- Works by Jennifer Trafton (For ages 8-11, we enjoyed Henry and the Chalk Dragon and The Rise and Fall of Mount Majestic)
- Picture books (especially Finding Narnia, John Ronald’s Dragons, So Tall Within, Library’s Most Wanted, Jesus and the Very Big Surprise)
We’ve barely scratched the surface with this list. As of this writing, their Black Friday sale is in full swing, so don’t delay!
