What makes good gifts for book lovers besides more books (and infinite bookshelf space)? Here are some lovely things we’ve recently discovered that would be perfect to wrap in brown paper and tie up with string.
Gifts that support small, independent businesses
- I have my preferred Signo office store pens, but which writing instrument will I always pick up first? My fountain pen, of course. I’ve used a basic Pilot Metropolitan for a while, but recently enjoyed the privilege of trying a Lamy Safari pen from Goldspot. (affiliate link) Do I like it? It’s extra fine as I like it, smoother than my Pilot or Signo, and now I’m looking for excuses to write something by hand. I told the boys they can do their copywork at my desk if they want to use the special pens (AND PUT THEM BACK!) I think they need their own.
- If you’re looking at print magazine subscriptions, we certainly recommend the Redeemed Reader Quarterly.
Gifts from Amazon
- Retro vintage tin signs of book covers make great room decor for fans of Mo Willems, Jules Verne, Richard Adams, and Harper Lee.
- If he needs book ends, these are definitely fun.
- The Book Lover’s Journal lots of good options to choose from!
- A most versatile hood, appropriate for dressing like a Ranger’s Apprentice (book review link), an assassin, or even playing airsoft (just ask my eldest).
- There are lots of magnetic bookmarks to choose from. These would fit nicely in a stocking, too.
