On Monday, Betsy shared how she and her children traveled through the Bible using a series of survey chapters written by Emily Whitten and me. On Wednesday, I recalled my first glimmerings of the Bible as the world’s greatest story with a life-altering theme. Today, I’d like to offer a chance to see for yourself what we’ve been talking about: a sample chapter from the Bible Pilgrimage.
Who doesn’t know the story of “Noah’s Ark”? Even nonbelievers and the biblically illiterate can tell the story in bare outline, possibly because they had a Noah playset or coloring book as kids. But it’s emphatically not a kid’s story. Christians are commanded to fear God, to praise him for his glory, and to give thanks for his steadfast love; the flood offers profound reasons for all three.
