Bible Review: NIV Rock Solid Faith Study Bible for Teens

Rock Solid Faith introduces teens to the principles and characters of the Bible in a generally helpful way.

Rock Solid Faith is Zondervan’s “non-gendered” teen Bible, with standard study helps meant to help readers strengthen their faith.  The book introductions are short and not too detailed, which I think is fine for this age: a simple book outline (of the main sections) and brief summary is enough.  The features are fairly standard: “Rock Solid Truths” expand on Christian beliefs, with application questions; “Rock Solid Promises” highlight key verses; “Unshaken People” sketch characters in the Bible (including some of the lesser-known ones), and “Unshaken God” examine the character and attributes of God.  I appreciate that last feature the most.  “Rock solid Principles” and “Plans” use the contemporary situations a teen might encounter to illustrate principles of Christian life.  Some of these tend to be a bit moralistic and not the main point of the passage.  The concordance in the back is longer than most, which is a plus.  The appendix also includes a reading plan, an index to features, and standard maps.
