My First 123 Book of Bible Numbers by Jonathan Gibson

My First 123 Book of Bible Numbers colorfully mixes learning to count with learning important Bible stories.

My First 123 Book of Bible Numbers by Jonathan Gibson, illustrated by Mike Mullan. New Growth Press, 2025, 32 pages.

  • Reading Level: Picture Book, ages 0-4
  • Recommended for: ages 0-4

My First 123 Book of Bible Numbers is a fun follow-up to Gibson’s My First ABC Book of Bible Verses. This volume keeps the same colorful illustration style and layout, but instead of verses to memorize, the content focuses more on general biblical literacy.

Young children love learning to count, and counting concept books abound. But there aren’t that many about counting things in the Bible. And yet, so many Bible stories and truths are full of important numbers! Gibson starts with one of the most important: There is only 1 God…. Some numbers are obvious choices (10 for the 10 Commandments), and some are interesting choices. For instance, I might have chosen the 12 disciples for the number 12 instead of the 12 baskets left over after the feeding of the 5000. Each page includes interactive elements, like finding the 5 birds in the sky on the “5” page.

Bottom Line: All in all, this would make a terrific resource for a preschool Sunday school class or for families to use at home.
