We don’t usually do teasers on this blog. But we don’t usually do interviews with scholars as distinguished as Gene Edward Veith, Jr. either. If you aren’t familiar with him, Dr. Veith is Provost of Patrick Henry College and a long-time advocate of the importance of books–especially for Christians. Perhaps his most explicit treatment of the subject is in his book Reading Between the Lines: A Christian Guide to Literature. But many of his 17 books touch on books and reading, and you will be hard-pressed to find a Christian perspective that is more informed or thoughtful than Dr. Veith’s.
Next Tuesday or Wednesday, we’ll ask Dr. Veith what every Christian kid needs to know before he heads off to college, as well as other book-related topics. And until then, Janie and I have some graduation and curriculum related posts that we hope will provide a fuller context for the interview. So, please check back early and often! And be sure to join our Facebook page for daily updates on Redeemed Reader content as well as extras like free books!
You can read more about Gene Edward Veith, Jr. at his blog, Cranach: The Blog of Veith, with the Cranach Institute at Concordia Theological Seminary. Be sure to tell him Janie and Emily said hi!
Further Redeemed Reading: Podcast Interview with Tim Challies on Choosing Kids’ Books, Simonetta Carr on Heroes of the Faith, or Janie’s series on Paganism.
