Whooo goes there? It’s Knight Owl and Early Bird in this charming picture book sequel!
Knight Owl and Early Bird by Christopher Denise. Christy Ottaviano Books, 2024. 48 Pages.
- Reading Level: Pictures Books, Ages 0-8
- Recommended For: Agees 2 and up
Owl is very important. He is captain of the Knight Night Watch. One day, just as Owl is turning in, a new bird arrives at the castle. Early Bird is the epitome of perky. She is Owl’s biggest fan. She wants to be a knight, too! But there’s one problem. Owl just wants to sleep. So the two settle into an uneasy routine till one day Owl snaps. The adventure that ensues involves (you guessed it!) a very cheerful early bird. By book’s end, Knight Owl and Early Bird have navigated their way into an amicable existence. If you loved Knight Owl, this sequel is sure to delight.
Considerations: None
Bottom Line: A sweet, charmingly illustrated picture book adventure focusing on friendship despite personality differences.
