Apologetics for Christmas? It’s no secret that our culture views Christmas less and less as “Nativity Story of Jesus the Messiah” and more and more as “biggest shopping season of the year.” Understandably, the average person on the streets today (or in your child’s classroom) might have some questions about this claim Christians make about Christmas as a celebration of the Messiah. McLaughlin begins at the beginning with her apologetics for Christmas: “Was Jesus Even a Real Person?” She moves on to three other questions: “Can We Take the Gospels Seriously?” “How Can You Believe in a Virgin Birth?” and “Why Does it Matter?”

Those are big questions, and much could be written about them. McLaughlin keeps her answers short and to the point (the entire book is a pocket-sized, 64-page paperback). Winsome and culturally relevant, she offers clear and cogent answers to the questions she raises. It may whet a student’s appetite for more involved apologetics, as well. This is a terrific resource for high school students and college students, both (and their parents and teachers!). It’s size and price make it affordable enough to distribute to Sunday school classes or to send off en masse to college students from your church at the local state university. Highly recommended.
