Make-A-Book: Thanksgiving Edition

Readers, this is an older post that was affected in our hack. We have not recovered all the resources yet. Our apologies!

While we’re on the subject of crafts and Thanksgiving, here is a book I put together for my girls about Thanksgiving.   It’s a .pdf file right now, but you download it, print it out and have your own kids add pictures to make their own book.  It includes short overview of the facts about Thanksgiving, with classic art (public domain) and quotes from famous Christians.

{currently unavailable} DOWNLOAD .pdf HERE: Thanksgivingbook 2

My suggestion is to read a couple of other books about Thanksgiving first.  And/or take them through some of the videos at Scholastic.com to get a feel for the history.  Then have them sit down with their favorite Thanksgiving books and trace scenes that they like on to the corresponding page.  We used Cheryl Harness’s Three Young Pilgrims, as well as Stranded at Plimoth Plantation 1626 for the art.  We also used online art resources, such as this How to Draw a Sailing Ship post at artprojectsforkids.com or Pinterest.com.   And actually, we still have to finish up the last few pages today, so let me know if you find any good art ideas for them!

See our previous Thanksgiving posts for more story ideas: Thanksgiving! Books for Kids 10 and Under, and Thankful for Cheryl Harness which includes a book giveaway.

Hi. Thanks for the ideas. Your link to the Thanksgivingbook2 PDF file is not working for me. Where can I find it?

      Hi Betz,
We’ll check on that. I’m betting it’s one of the many links that have been messed up with our transition this year. Thanks for letting us know! ~Betsy
