What does it mean to be a Christian? What is the gospel?
We’re glad you asked! The Gospel Coalition has a great summary you can check out.
Rather read a book? We recommend:
I’m a skeptic. I’ve heard it all before….
We respectfully invite you to check out some of the free resources from Redeemer Church in New York City as a good starting point.
Want a book to explore instead? We recommend:
Maybe I should start reading my Bible….
Great idea! As Bible-believing Christians, we think the only book anyone “must” read is the Bible itself. You might say it's our favorite book.
We recommend the following versions/editions in particular because they are widely available and quite readable for today's reader (while still maintaining high textual accuracy in translation).
- The English Standard Version (ESV) Bible published by Crossway (print/hard cover)
- The ESV online (digital/free)
- The Holman Christian Standard Version (HCSB or CSB) Bible published by Holman Bible (print/hard cover)
- The HCSB or CSB (digital/Kindle version)
- The YouVersion Bible app is free, and it contains these translations plus many more, such as the traditional King James Version (plus additional resources)
Want a Bible for your children or teens? Want to explore devotionals? We’ve reviewed a lot under our “Good Book” category. You may also contact us for a recommendation for a particular age group/setting. Put "Bible recommendation" in the subject line.
I’d like to talk to someone in real life….
The best place to find out more in real life is in a local, Bible-believing church. You can use this directory to find a local church near you.
But I’m a college student with no transportation ….
Many campus ministries can help you learn more about God and provide you opportunities to worship Him with other believers. Try starting with one of the following. (If they don’t have a ministry on your local campus, search your local campus directory for Christian ministries.)
