Told in a parent’s voice, a sweet, faith-filled picture book reminding a child “I love you from fingertip to fingertip.”

I Love You From Fingertip to Fingertip by Elisabeth Blaker Brown, illustrated by Neri Hurtado. Thriving Vine Kids, 2025. 25 pages.

Our story starts with an ultrasound monitor, and a young mom, tummy bared, staring with wide, excited eyes at a grainy image:

“The first time I saw you, you were only this big.
But I loved you from fingertip to fingertip.”

The gentle text continues as the baby is born and grows into a little boy. But when he finally hears that he is loved from fingertip to fingertip, he is sad. That isn’t that much, looking at one outstretched hand!

His mother shows him what she actually means, stretching out both hands and showing how from hand to hand is pretty much “all of me.” (Fun fact, for most humans, our arm span is roughly equal to our height!)

This assurance of love is reiterated, yet Brown deepens her story by taking readers to the greatest unconditional love: the love of Jesus. She shares how because of Jesus’s love, we can love when someone is both good and bad. Because, on the cross, He loved us from fingertip to fingertip.

Considerations: None.

Bottom Line: A lovely, simple picture book reminding a child of the fact they are loved unconditionally because of the unconditional love of Christ, and inviting them to experience that love themselves.
